Jewellery is often used to punctuate life's key moments. It can mark the best times: like your 21st birthday, your graduation or your engagement/wedding. In contrast, it can also mark overcoming a huge struggle. Jewellery could be a well deserved treat for someone who is fighting illness, it could be bought as a reminder of independence post divorce or, as in this case, it can be bought to remember someone special who you have lost.
Jenny emailed me a while back. She had unexpectedly lost her partner and wanted a piece of jewellery that encompassed her memories of spending time with him in their garden, amongst their two apple trees.
Together we designed a circular branch pendant with four apple blossoms. Two blossoms to represent her two daughters, and two blossoms to represent her and her partner. Symbolism and sentiment went into confirming each design element in this necklace.
This piece, to me, represents the strength to carry on when life knocks you down and the choice we can all take to use life's bad moments to grow and blossom. I like to think of this pendant, not as an object of mourning, but as a celebration of hope, love and family.
I would like to thank Jenny for choosing me to design and make this piece with/for you. It was a pleasure to make.
P.s. Jenny- the Apple Jelly is delicious!
